Thermal Desorption
The EQ Thermal Desorption Unit (TDU) provides a recovery solution to traditional incineration, stabilization and landfill waste management alternatives. The technology produces “clean” residuals while maximizing the recovery of metal and oil values contained in the wastes. This solution addresses a variety of waste streams, including oil-contaminated drill cuttings, refinery wastes, petrochemical wastes, hydrocarbon contaminated soils, spent catalyst and other petroleum compatible residuals.
The TDU is located at our fully permitted RCRA Part B hazardous waste transportation, storage and disposal facility (TSDF) in Belleville, Michigan. The TDU processes waste 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with the exception of prescheduled maintenance outages.
The TDU is considered recycling by the State of Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. EQ is able to recover resources (oil and metal) creating value while minimizing waste and reducing disposal costs. The process allows our customers to claim a recycling credit for a certain amount of waste, typically 15 percent. Recycled oil can be sent back to the customer at a desired specification or into the fuels market.
